Rivers: Gunmen Abduct Ahoada East Council Chairman

Yet-to-be-identified gunmen saturday abducted the Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of Ahoada East Local Government Council in Rivers State, Chief Cassidy Ikegbudu.

THISDAY gathered that Ikegbudu was abducted in his community, Yiboko, by gunmen dressed in military fatigue uniform after a gun battle with security personnel attached to him in the early hours.

Ahoada East is one of the four local government areas where house of assembly elections were rescheduled to hold  on the 18th of April, after the election of April 11 was declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The APC House of Assembly Candidate for Ahoada East constituency 1, Mr. Eric Apia, said armed men abducted Ikegbudu from his village, Yiboko.

He said, “Reports received from his family said there was exchange of fire between security personnel attached to the chairman and the armed men.
