All Progressives Congress (APC) Delta State House of Assembly candidate in next Saturday's election, Mr Robinson Ariyo, has pleaded with the relevant authorities to beef up security, particularly in Warri area, for the exercise.
He said on Monday in Warri that the appeal had become necessary as he was being threatened by certain political enemies who had already destroyed most of his posters and billboards in Warri in an obvious case of provocation.
Ariyo, who is hoping to win the Warri South II constituency seat, alleged at the weekend that his posters and billboards had been pulled down by members of the rival People's Democratic (PDP).
The APC candidate further alleged that he was aware that some politicians planned to intimidate the electorate to vote for PDP candidates only in next Saturday's election, claiming that the PDP was stockpiling dangerous weapons to carry out such plans.
He pointed out that the destruction of his posters continued even after he had lodged complaints with the police, other relevant security agencies and the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Attahiru Jega.
The lawyer and peace consultant told newsmen in Warri that he woke up on Friday morning to discover the his billboards which cost over N250,000 each had been destroyed by unidentified PDP members in his locality.
